In combining democracy with socialism the Indian state quickly degenerated into a license-raj and a massive bureaucracy which lead to corruption and suppression of millions of aspiring entrepreneurs. According to Das, the economic timeline of India went through a series of crests and troughs. It was so sad to know that policies introduced by Nehru and his contemporary leaders with good intentions in fact had a negative impact on our economy. I started my review with the quote by Gurchuran Das.
He has written the book in an autobiographical style, reflecting upon the policies of the government like a common man might feel when he reads about the policy by the leaders.
